Lilian’s work experience includes working in the private (starting and running small businesses, public (teaching in adult education) and voluntary (ActionAid) sectors in the UK.
Subject specialisms comprise Geography and Research Methods for which she has Bachelor’s and Master’s respectively and also, Employability & Business, Public Health & Health Promotion. Lilian has been in tertiary education for the last 20+ years. As a Geography tutor, Lilian ran small group tutorials which encompassed setting and marking assignments and led computerised cartography sessions for undergraduates at the University of Manchester.
At Stockport College of F & HE (UK), Lilian was a designated Higher Education tutor providing academic support to degree students. Lilian was involved in the University of Lancashire’s Preparation for Teaching in the Lifelong Sector (PTLLS) and Certification of Education programmes, mentoring and carrying out observations.
Her teaching priorities are to encourage, empower and instil self-belief in learners, so that they grow to become confident and achieve their personal goals.
