Yahya has extensive experience with adult learners as he trained newly appointed teachers in Doha, Qatar, for many years. Yahya also worked with Peace Corps, Mauritania, as a teacher trainer. In 1995, he taught at Nouakchott University, a Module on ‘Dissertation Writing’ to 4th year students. A year prior to that, Yahya taught at the ‘Institut Superieur Scientifique (ISS) Nouakchott.
Yahya studied in Edinburgh, Scotland at Moray House – an Institute of Heriot-Watt University, where he was awarded a Dip-TEFL and later a Master’s Degree in TESOL. He started his career as a high school teacher in Mauritania.
Later, in 1996, eager to discover other horizons, he went to Doha, Qatar. Fascinated by the vast opportunities for improvement, he stayed there for about 25 years. During his stay in Qatar, he worked as a Language teacher in various places, among which, Qatar Technical School (QTS) which was operated by Qatar Petroleum (QP) a world class leading oil and Gas Company.
Yahya was promoted as English Department coordinator. His work included, among other things, observing teachers and writing feedback reports. He taught an IELTS preparation course along with technical subjects. As department coordinator, he did many presentations to boost professional development and respond to teachers’ needs.
Yahya is a highly dedicated instructor and very professional.
