HIE Higher Institute of English
The British ambassador to Mauritania, Mr. Colin Wells, accepted a long-standing invitation to visit HIE and was received 1 March 2022. Colin has been in the country for about a year and had known about HIE, but COVID restrictions had postponed such a visit – until now.
Received by the Commandant, Col. Ebdemel, and senior staff, the ambassador was briefed on the work of the Institute, how and why it was set up, achievements to date, and plans for the future. Possibilities for future cooperation and liaison were explored after which the ambassador was taken on a tour of the buildings and facilities. The ambassador also had the opportunity to meet and chat to staff and students.
Colin’s warm and approachable personality was a big hit with staff and students alike and we look forward to a fruitful and close relationship from now on.
