HIE Higher Institute of English
At the end of 2019, HIE was approached by our good neighbour, Staff College, with the request to provide an English course for their as part of their military training programme. More than 50 staff were initially tested and included serving personnel not only from Mauritania but also other countries including Saudi Arabia, Yemen, and Mali.
The programme required 80 hours of English to be delivered before the end of June 2020. Initially, HIE provided for 5 classes at different levels ranging from Beginner to Intermediate. There was an extended break due to the Covid 19 pandemic. However, we still managed to wrap the programme on schedule and the In-Service team along with the Commandant were invited to attend the graduation ceremony in July. It is likely Staff College will turn to HIE for a second iteration in 2021.
