Baba Salem Adou


Baba is an Arabic Lead and a lecturer of English, Arabic and International relations at Higher Institute of English in Nouakchott, Mauritania. He received his Maîtrise in English Language and Literature from the University of Nouakchott in 2011. In 2013, he benefited from the prestigious “Fulbright Visiting Scholar” grant to study and conduct research at the University of Kansas, USA. In 2015, he graduated with an MA in Global and International Studies, with an honours thesis and a 4.0 GPA. Baba has also received the Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) awarded by the Cambridge University ESOL examinations board (Pass B). In addition, he has online certificates in Management, Leadership and Entrepreneurship from the University of London, UK and University of Maryland, USA.

Whilst in America, he taught Arabic at the University of Kansas. Before taking up employment at the HIE, he taught English at various institutions in Nouakchott including the University of Nouakchott, the Higher Polytechnic School, and the University of Science, Technology and Medicine. In addition to his TEFL experience, Baba has also worked as a researcher with Colombia University, a translator, tour guide and TOEFL Test auditor.
