Denba Bigué

Born in Nouadhibou, Mauritania, Denba holds a BA in Languages (English and French), which he earned with distinction in 2018 from the Higher Institute of Languages, Translation, and Interpretation in Nouakchott. He continued his academic journey at the prestigious Université Gaston Berger de Saint-Louis in Senegal, where he graduated with highest distinction, earning an MA in Literatures and Civilizations of the English-Speaking World. In 2020, he became the youngest Ph.D. Candidate and Research Assistant ever admitted to L’École Doctorale des Sciences de L’Homme et de la Société at Université Gaston Berger de Saint-Louis. Denba is currently an instructor at the Higher Institute of English (HIE) while pursuing a Ph.D. in African Literature, specializing in text analysis with a focus on female novelists. He is also a Cambridge University CELTA-certified English teacher.

Denba’s professional experience is extensive, including co-managing research projects with Le Laboratoire de Recherche en Art et Culture (LARAC) and participating in think tanks on African Literature. He has conducted studies at ISPLTI on language anxiety and its effects on oral performance proficiency and has organized training seminars on public speaking and research methodology for BA students. In addition, Denba holds a NATO e-Instructor certification and currently works as a test writer for the NATO CAMEL T&T Program, focusing on the development of STANAG 6001 military tests. He also serves as an interpreter for the National Agency for the Management of Conference Palaces in Mauritania.

Denba is actively engaged in research on gender equality, women’s rights, and second language acquisition. His passion for English literature and teaching English as a foreign language remains central to his academic and professional pursuits.
