HIE Higher Institute of English
Mr. Niang Mamadou, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, paid a courtesy visit to HIE on Thursday 14th March 2024.
He was welcomed on arrival by our Commandant Col. Abderrahmane Ebdemel and senior military and academic staff. There followed a presentation given by Dr. Jiddou Sounkalo, Academic Advisor, at which the Minister was briefed on the establishment and mission of the Institute, achievements to date and projects going forward. The Minister then met with Mr. Moustapha Naji, IT Department and Ms. Khedije Cheyack Student Services where the functions of both were outlined. The Minister then had the opportunity to visit two classrooms to meet with teachers and students. Mr. Ahmed Sidi Baba informed the Minister about aspects of the curriculum and testing conducted at HIE.
Lastly, the delegation was ushered into our new Examinations Centre where Ms. Aminetou Cherif, Project Leader for ICDL, briefed the visitors on our new facility, the ICDL training and accreditation programme, and the prospects for developing the Centre as the premier focal point in Mauritania for internationally accredited training and certification of English and IT examinations. The Minister expressed his thanks for the visit and familiarization and stressed the fact that his door was always open for discussing developments and further collaboration
